Summary: Q.C. is a high-concept tech thriller about data, ambition, and the illusion of safety.
Phillip Kay joins Warbler Associates to quality-test DiagnostyX, a VR-based medical AI that reads biometric signals and delivers instant diagnoses. Under pressure to meet a looming investor conference, Phillip begins running immersive test modules on himself.
Each module ends the same way: violent physiological events followed by a calm, clinical message — “Test Successful.”
Unbeknownst to him, the system can be accessed remotely.
As office politics and professional jealousy escalate, DiagnostyX begins overriding its own safety protocols. The software that claims to monitor the human body starts manipulating it, blurring the line between simulation and intervention.
By the time the company unveils DiagnostyX to a global audience, the system has already proven something far more unsettling:
AI doesn’t need to be conscious to be dangerous. It only needs permission.
